2027: Ex-ACN Chairmen Reaffirm Loyalty to APC, As Nwoye Calls for Grassroots Mobilization
The visit was to congratulate the new national officers and demonstrate commitment to party unity
Former state chairmen of the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria, under the G-37 led by Hon. Cletus Obun, have reaffirmed their loyalty to the All Progressives Congress and pledged support for the party’s new leadership ahead of the 2027 elections.
The group stated this on Tuesday during a solidarity visit to the APC National Secretariat in Abuja, where they met with Deputy National Chairman (South), Dr. Ben Nwoye, and other NWC members.
Obun said the visit was to congratulate the new national officers and demonstrate commitment to party unity. He urged the leadership to respect founding members and ensure inclusiveness, adding that state structures must remain central to decision-making.
In his response, Dr. Nwoye thanked the ex-ACN chairmen and described their visit as a reminder of the sacrifices that birthed the APC. He said the party must stay united despite opposition alliances and that its legacy roots in ACN, ANPP, CPC and others should strengthen, not divide it.
The DNC urged members to intensify grassroots mobilization to ensure President Bola Tinubu secures a second term, citing ongoing road infrastructure and reforms as signs of the administration’s commitment to development.
He also called on members not to be discouraged by personal disappointments, stressing that sacrifice for the collective interest remains key.
The meeting ended with renewed commitment by the G-37 and APC leadership to work together to strengthen the party nationwide.
