Anambra Bye Election: Anxiety as APGA's Forms Purchase Deadline Expires

By Okey Maduforo

There is growing anxiety within the ranks of the All Progressives Grand Alliance APGA ahead of the conduct of Anambra South Senatorial District primary election slated to take place on the 21st of July this year.

Deepening this anxiety is the fact that the six major aspirants for the by election are yet to present a consensus candidate as was advised by Gov Charles Soludo.

Similarly the party leadership has kept mom over the number of Aspirants that have purchased forms for the primary election.

Already the deadline for the Sale and Return of Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms expired yesterday July 9th 2025 and both the state Executive Committee and the National Working Committee NWC of the party have refused to make public those that have obtained forms .

They are also yet to make public the members of the Screening Committee for the by election a development that has worsened the confused state of affairs.

At the Zonal Secretariat of the party at Agu - Awka neither the staff or officials of the party offered to speak and directed this reporter to Abuja party headquarters.

"It is not for us to talk here at the Zonal Secretariat and not even the state party Chairman can give you any information"

"The party has a committee set up for that purpose and we at this office cannot say who are the members" a party Chieftain said .

The National Chairman of APGA Barr Sylvester Ezeokenwa couldn't be reached due to his busy schedules ahead of the funeral of his late father.

It was however gathered that the Conclave of six aspirants are still meeting to chose a consensus candidate among them creating fears that Gov Charles Soludo may be compelled to chose a candidate for the party if they fail to do so.

Gov Charles Soludo had advised on a consensus candidate among the six aspirants but also gave an alternative of him chosing the candidate and also warned that any aspirant that will not support the eventual candidate of the party may well leave the party and meet him on the election day .
