A political pressure group within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Enugu State, the Ifediche Political Family, has announced plans to stage a 10,000-man solidarity march in support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Peter Mbah ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The march, scheduled for April 4, will take place in Oji River Local Government Area and is also aimed at projecting the House of Representatives ambition of the group’s founder, Ezenwa A. A. Onyirimba, for the Awgu/Oji River/Aninri Federal Constituency.
Director-General of the group, Evangelist Dr. Walter Madu, disclosed the plan while addressing members and supporters during the inauguration of Local Government and Ward executives of the Ifediche Political Family over the weekend.
According to Madu, participants for the solidarity march will be mobilised from Awgu, Oji River and Aninri local government areas, with plans to expand participation in future engagements as part of efforts to strengthen the APC’s presence in Enugu West Senatorial District.
He explained that the rally would serve a dual purpose of galvanising grassroots support for the re-election of President Tinubu and Governor Mbah, while also showcasing Onyirimba’s political aspiration.
“The 10,000-man march is to ginger support for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Peter Mbah in 2027, as well as to project the ambition of our leader, Dr. Onyirimba, to represent Awgu/Oji River/Aninri Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives,” Madu said.
He expressed confidence in Onyirimba’s capacity to provide effective representation, citing his ongoing contributions to infrastructure development, human empowerment and capacity-building initiatives across the Greater Awgu area.
Madu further highlighted federal and state projects as justification for the group’s support, referencing ongoing reconstruction of key roads and the signing of the South East Development Commission (SEDC) bill into law by President Tinubu, which he said would channel more resources into the region.
He also commended Governor Mbah’s developmental strides in Enugu State, including the revitalisation of state-owned assets, deployment of Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) buses, and establishment of smart schools and healthcare facilities across wards.
On Onyirimba’s interventions, the DG noted that the APC chieftain had facilitated the renovation of 18 boreholes, supported agricultural initiatives, and attracted training opportunities for about 300 unemployed graduates at the Digital Bridge Institute in Ibagwa Nike.
He added that farm inputs such as fertilisers and fumigation equipment were distributed to selected farmers in the area, with assurances of more agricultural support in the coming planting season.
Also speaking, the Woman Leader of the group, Mrs. Ifeoma Ofodile, commended Onyirimba for establishing the Ifediche Political Family, noting that it has helped to reawaken political consciousness among grassroots members.
She pledged the commitment of women in the group to support the re-election bids of President Tinubu and Governor Mbah, as well as Onyirimba’s House of Representatives ambition.
In his remarks, the Youth Leader, Chijioke Emmanuel, described the planned solidarity march as a “done deal,” assuring that youths from Aninri and Awgu would join their counterparts in Oji River to ensure a massive turnout.
According to organisers, the march will commence at the Agbalaenyi axis of Oji Urban and terminate at the Oji River Local Government Headquarters, covering a distance of about three kilometres.
The event also featured the inauguration of local coordinators and 25-member executives of the Ifediche Political Family across wards in Achi Uno and Achi Agu, with a charge to expand membership and mobilise grassroots support for APC candidates in the 2027 elections.
Madu disclosed that logistics support had been provided by Onyirimba to aid grassroots mobilisation, assuring that members would be fully engaged in the build-up to the elections.
