ADC: Coalition against APC kicks off at Yar'Adua Center
Such coalition against the then ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) started in a similar note in 2013
The formal kick-off of greater opposition against the national ruling All progressives Congress (APC) has commenced at the Yar'Adua Center Abuja today.
The meeting which was initially slated at a hotel in Abuja was cancelled by the hotel management for few hours to the meeting, but the conveners quickly adjusted the venue which started at about 2pm today.
Remember that such coalition against the then ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) started in a similar note in 2013 and metamorphosed into the APC which won election against the PDP in 2015.
The coalition parties in the ongoing movement include the Labour Party the PDP, the SDP, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as host party and members of some other political parties that so wished.
At the commencement of the inaugural meeting on Wednesday, former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar and the Labour Party presidential candidate in 2023, Mr Peter Obi made early arrivals.
Also present are former governors of Kaduna and Rivers States, Malam Nasir El-Rufai and Rotimi Amaechi, respectively; Dino Melaye, a former Minister of Youth and Sports; Solomon Dalong; Dele Momodu, Senator Gabriel Suswam, and Senator Ireti Kingibe of the Labour Party (LP) are at the venue.
Others are a former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Emeka Ihedioha, a former Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar (retd.), among several other politicians from across the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Social Democratic Party (SDP), and the LP.
Former Senate President, David Mark has been named as the Interim National Chairman of the ADC, while a former governor of Osun State, Rauf Aregbesola is the Interim National Secretary.
