APC: Igbo group insists on Tinubu/Shettima 2027 Presidential ticket
Shettima moves to ensure return as VP
Contrary to the cacophony raised at the North East Zonal meeting of the All progressives Congress, APC, in Maidugri, Borno state, last week, the Igbo Arise for Tinubu/Shettima 2027, has given it's approval for President Tinubu to contest with the Vice President, Kashim Shettima, in a second term bid.
The group in a press conference in Enugu, on Thursday, endorsed their repeat joint ticket for continuity and developmental reasons.
National Coordinator of the group, Comrade Michael Iroakazi stated that the Vice President has shown that his loyalty and support for the President is unrivalled, adding that it is the reason why the administration is not afraid of taking the bull by the horn in making difficult, but developmental decisions.
The group noted that the administration is arguably the best administration that has governed Nigerian since the inception of democracy in Nigeria from 1999 because so many important decisions have been taken by the administration, though they are difficult ones, which were avoided by successive regimes before now.
"It is true that this administration removed fuel subsidy, which has considerably made fuel prices to go high. It is also true that this administration went to the Supreme Court and got a ruling, which has empowered the Local Governments in Nigeria to be autonomous. It is equally true that there is a tax reform debate going on at the National Assembly at the moment, these are difficult policies, which can be taken by a government that has political will, and is ready to make difficult decisions as long as they will take the fabric of democratic governance to an enviable height, and remain sustained over time.
"Our brothers and sisters of Igbo extraction, we are appealing to all of you to join the moving train as our development as a people is more paramount to us in the politics of this country, Nigeria which is why we are talking to the world this morning with the theme "AHAMUEFULA" a sure part of renewed hope for Ndi-Igbo for Tinubu/Shettima as our choice for the 2027 Presidential Election."
The group said that they need the insecurity in the South East to be seriously tackled and their economic, social and political development to take the driver's seat.
"These issues and others we cannot resolve, or achieve through a very weak negotiating angle. We need to be at the center, that is why, we are pleading that the Igbos should support en masse, the coming back for a second tenure of the present administration being run by the two committed individuals, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and his amiable Vice president, Senator Kashim Shettima."
