Amid 2027 Crisis: Nwosu Alleges Bribery Attempt, Accuses APC of Plot to Undermine ADC Leadership

In the mist of ground swelling political tension with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC's) sledgehammer on the African Democratic Congress, ADC, the former National Chairman of the most viable opposition party, Mr.Ralph Nwosu, has alleged that he was offered a substantial bribe by members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to sabotage the emergence of a new leadership within the ADC.

Speaking publicly, Nwosu claimed the offer was aimed at derailing the rise of David Mark and Rauf Aregbesola in the ADC leadership structure.

“I was offered a very big bribe by members of APC to sabotage the emergence of the David Mark and Rauf Aregbesola leadership in the party, but I turned it down out of a commitment to my legacy and belief in democratic institution building,” Nwosu said.

He further alleged that his former deputy, Nafiu Bala, was later compromised by the same actors, whom he accused of pursuing a one-party agenda.

According to Nwosu, Bala had initially played a key role in strengthening opposition alliances, traveling extensively across Nigeria’s Northwest and Northeast regions to rally support for the ADC as a coalition platform ahead of the 2027 general elections.

“Before my former ADC Deputy National Chairman Nafiu Bala was compromised by these same actors seeking a one-party system, he had personally engaged opposition leaders across the Northwest and Northeast to adopt ADC as their coalition platform,” he stated.

Nwosu’s allegations add a new dimension to ongoing political tensions as parties begin early positioning for the 2027 elections. The APC has not yet publicly responded to the claims.
