Atiku Calls For Investigation Into Unauthorised Deposit of Money Into Private Bank Account

Former Vice President and African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has raised concerns over an alleged unauthorised transfer into one of his private bank accounts, warning of what he described as a serious breach of financial privacy.

In a statement issued by his spokesman, Phrank Shaibu, Atiku disclosed that an unknown individual transferred money into the account with the narration, "Contribution Electioneering Campaign."

He maintained that neither he nor his campaign organisation solicited or authorised the payment, stressing that the account is a private one whose details are not publicly available.

The former Vice President questioned how unknown persons obtained the confidential banking information, describing the development as disturbing.

According to him, if the private bank account details of a former Vice President can be accessed by unauthorised persons, then the financial privacy and security of every Nigerian could be under threat.

Atiku called on relevant security agencies to launch a thorough investigation into the incident, describing it as one of several suspicious developments emerging ahead of the 2027 general elections.

He urged the authorities to identify those behind the transfer and determine how his private banking information was obtained.
