The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Awgu Local Government Area of Enugu State has commended Governor Peter Mbah for appointing several indigenes of the area into various positions in the state government, as well as for his ongoing development projects across the council.
The party, in a letter of appreciation signed by its Awgu LGA Chairman, Hon. Kenechukwu Okolo, and dated September 22, 2026, said the appointments demonstrated the governor’s commitment to recognising competence, rewarding loyalty and providing opportunities for Awgu people to contribute to the development of the state.
Among those recently appointed, according to the party, are Prince Humphrey Onyima, Special Adviser on Investment Strategy and Public Relations; Hon. Kenneth Ofoma, Senior Special Assistant on Policy and Communication; Barr. Henry Okeke, Member, Governing Council, Enugu State Polytechnic, Iwollo; and Augustine Okoli, Special Adviser on Policy Affairs and Analysis.
Others listed are Hon. Pedro Nwankwo, Special Adviser on Stakeholders Relations and Community Affairs; Barr. Okey Ude, Senior Special Assistant on Inter-Party and Mobilization; Hon. Chinedu Chukwunwike, Senior Special Assistant on Party Monitoring; Hon. Solomon Egbo, Special Assistant on Contact and Mobilization; Joseph Ude Chukwu, Special Assistant on Housing and Estate Development; and Humphrey Madu, Special Assistant on Political Liaison.
The APC said the appointees had joined other Awgu indigenes previously appointed into various positions across the state administration.
“We are particularly grateful that Your Excellency has continued to find our people worthy of trust and responsibility,” the party stated, assuring that the appointees would deploy their experience and dedication to support the administration’s development agenda.
The party also commended the governor for what it described as impactful interventions in Awgu, citing the ongoing reconstruction of the road leading to the Awgu Local Government headquarters, rebuilding of the Awgu Games Village, upgrade of the General Hospital and construction of Type-2 Primary Healthcare Centres.
It further cited the reconstruction of the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp and the construction and completion of Smart Green Schools across the 11 electoral wards of the council as evidence of the administration’s development efforts in the area.
According to the party, the projects go beyond physical infrastructure, describing them as investments in the future, dignity and prosperity of the people of Awgu.
The APC said the interventions had strengthened its members’ confidence in the Mbah administration and demonstrated what it described as the governor’s commitment to equitable development across Enugu State.
On the 2027 elections, the party said the people of Awgu would have an opportunity to express their views through the democratic process, while noting that the governor’s record of service would be a major part of the political conversation.
The party also expressed support for what it described as the established principle of political rotation and equity among Enugu State’s senatorial districts, saying continuity within the constitutionally permissible tenure of an elected administration, alongside respect for political conventions, was important to sustaining fairness and mutual confidence among the districts.
The Awgu APC leadership thanked Mbah for the confidence reposed in the people of the council and for the development projects being executed in communities across the area.
