BREAKING: APC Crisis Deepens as New Faction Emerges

The internal crisis rocking Nigeria’s ruling party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), has taken a dramatic turn with the emergence of a new faction led by Dr. Hafsatu Danladi, challenging the leadership of Nentawe Yilwatda.

According to credible reports, the Danladi-led faction has formally laid claim to the party’s leadership and has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to withdraw recognition of the current National Working Committee (NWC) headed by Yilwatda.

The development follows a failed reconciliation meeting reportedly convened at the instance of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, aimed at resolving the growing leadership dispute within the party.

Sources reveal that tensions escalated after the Yilwatda-led faction allegedly offered ₦40 billion to the opposing group in a bid to settle the crisis—an offer that was firmly rejected by the Danladi camp. This rejection signals a deepening divide and raises concerns about the party’s unity ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

There are also strong indications that, barring any last-minute political intervention from the Presidency, INEC may be compelled—through ongoing legal proceedings—to suspend recognition of the Yilwatda-led leadership. This is linked to disputes surrounding the legitimacy of the party’s March 27 national convention held in Abuja.

When contacted, Nentawe Yilwatda confirmed the existence of the leadership crisis but declined to comment on allegations that some APC governors are backing moves to oust him.

The situation continues to unfold, with political observers warning that the deepening crisis could significantly impact the APC’s chances in future elections if not urgently resolved.
