BREAKING: Fubara Withdraws from Rivers APC Governorship Primaries
Gov Fubara

Rivers State Governor Similayi Fubara has withdrawn from the All Progressives Congress governorship primaries scheduled for tomorrow ,Thursday.

In a statement, Fubara said the decision came after “deep reflection and extensive consultations” with family, friends, and associates.

“I have taken the difficult but necessary decision to withdraw from the APC gubernatorial primaries. I do so with a full heart and with a firm commitment to support whoever emerges as the candidate of our great party,” he said.

The governor said leadership requires sacrifice and that at times personal ambition must give way to the greater good. He stressed that “Rivers State is bigger than any individual” and that peace, stability, and unity should take precedence over personal interest at this time.

Fubara thanked his supporters for their time, resources, prayers, and loyalty, acknowledging that many may feel disappointed by the move. He said his recent silence was deliberate and guided by what he called the higher interest of the state.

“As our elders say, not everything a hunter sees in the forest is spoken of in the marketplace,” he said. “Some truths are best borne quietly, not out of fear, but out of wisdom and restraint for the sake of peace and a greater purpose.”

He said he faced immense pressure and difficult choices but maintained that his love for Rivers State remained paramount. Fubara also thanked the APC for its platform and support, and expressed appreciation to President Bola Tinubu for his encouragement.

“I stepped aside from participating in the upcoming Rivers State gubernatorial election not out of weakness, fear, or surrender, but out of conviction and sacrifice so that Rivers State may move forward in peace and unity,” he said.

Fubara added that he remains committed to serving the people of Rivers State until the end of his term.
