The Minister for Innovation Science and Technology, Chief Uche Nnaji has resigned his appointment.

His resignation was confirmed by President Bola Tinubu's Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Mr. Bayo Onanuga on Tuesday evening.

In a statement made available by Onanuga, he said:

"President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has accepted the resignation of Geoffrey Uche Nnaji, the Minister of Innovation, Science, and Technology, following some allegations against him.

"President Tinubu appointed Nnaji in August 2023.

"He resigned today in a letter thanking the President for allowing him to serve Nigeria.

"Nnaji said he has been a target of blackmail by political opponents.

"President Tinubu thanked him for his service and wished him well in future endeavours."

Nnaji was accused of certificates falsification, including his University and National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) certificates.

Meanwhile, President Bola Tinubu's former campaign spokesman in the south east Denge Josef Onoh has commended Nnaji for taking a bow when the ovation was loudest.

Onoh in a letter to Nnaji said: "Dear Uche Nnaji, On behalf of myself and the All Progressives Congress (APC), I extend heartfelt gratitude for your dedicated service as the Minister of Innovation, Science, and Technology. Your contributions to our party and the nation during your tenure, appointed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in August 2023, have been invaluable and will not be forgotten.

"As you move forward following your resignation on October 7, 2025, I wish you the very best in all your future endeavors. Your commitment to Nigeria’s progress has been evident, and we are confident that you will continue to make a positive impact.

Thank you once again for your service and steadfast support to the APC."
