Call FGC Okposi Principal to Order - Concern parents appeal to FG

Parents of students at the Federal Government College (FGC Okposi) in Ebonyi state have accused the school principal, Dr Elizabeth Eze, of impunity and corporate extortion the college.

She is being accused of collecting multiple levies in the school against federal ministry of education directives and high-handedness .

The parents therefore appealed to the federal ministry of education to call her to order before it gets to a crisis point.

They alleged the new intakes in the school are compelled to bring stationery and other items that are already captured in the bulk school fees payment.

A parent, Mr Augustine Ako lamented that the principal forces parents to pay exorbitant price for lockers and bunk and wondered why the principal disallowed parents from constructing their own locker and bunk.

This is happening as students allegedly lament of poor feeding since the inception of Mrs Eze as principal of the Unity School.

"Parents are compelled to buy multiple toiletries which would be diverted and sold by the school management by the end of the day while hostel requirements have gone out of reach," said Ako.

He wondered the rationale behind forcing a parent to buy a bucket of a specific paint, describing it as corporate extortion.

Another parent Mr John Nwmbe said the principal and the parent teachers association chairman have raised the PTA levy to the maximum ₦12,000 even when the federal government gave option of negotiating between N5,00 and N12,000.

Federal Ministry of Education in a secular had directed that PTA should be between ₦5000 -₦12000. The parents therefore wondered why the principal and the chairman decided to go to the maximum in a federal rural school in Okposi.

They appeal to the federal ministry of education to call the principal to order as unity school are made affordable by the government by medium and low income earners.

"We wonder why the principal want put such financial inconvenience on parents. Education should be made available and affordable as part of social right," Members complained.
