Eastwing Aviation Institute Launches Scholarship Competition, Aviation Summit for Southeast Youths

In a bold step to tackle youth unemployment and bridge the gap in aviation, the Eastwing Aviation Institute, in Partnership with the Eastwing Youth Foundation, has launched The Face of Eastwing/ Southeast Aviation Summit.

The initiative, happening on the 23rd of August, 2025, offers scholarship and soft skill career training to young people across the Southeast, preparing them for roles in a Growing Aviation Sector currently facing a critical shortage of skilled staff.

Designed to awaken ambition and drive, the program is combining a talent-based competition with a high-impact aviation summit. The winner will receive an Aviation Scholarship and ambassadorship courtesy of Eastwing Aviation Institute and direct access to internship at Enugu Airport courtesy of FAAN.

The top Five run up will also enjoy Free Visa Assistance to any Countries of their choice, courtesy of LoFish Travel and Tours Limited. The top ten will enjoy Aviation Soft skill training and even the top fifty will benefit from Hospitality soft skill Training, courtesy of Phoenix Crest Hospitality Services, so every youth that partakes in this initiative is a winner!

Other Notable Partners of the Event are: Nigerian Connects, Foodpolis, NAN, Artmatazz Media, Pentagon Shopping Mall, GMT News, Society Of Tourism Practitioners of Nigeria (STPN) amongst others.

Speaking on this opportunity in a statement made available to the media, the Executive Director of Eastwing Youth foundation, Mr. Christian Agadibe, emphasized on the urgency of building local capacity.

“This event could not be happening at a better time. During the recruitment process at Enugu Air that was launched recently by Enugu's governor, Mr. Peter Mbah, over 400 young people applied, but so many were disqualified because they lacked the required Aviation Licences. In the Aviation Industry, you must have the licence to practice before you are employed.

"This shows the importance of getting trained and certified. The Pilot who landed the inaugural Enugu Air flight was from Enugu! That should tell you something, we’re seeing real opportunities springing up right here at home.

"Our goal is to create awareness that this school is here in Enugu, The First Private Aviation School in Southeast Nigeria. With us, you can study a Cabin Crew Course, Dispatcher Course, or Aviation Safety Training, and you can use these certifications and licences anywhere in the world, not only in Nigeria. With this initiative, we hope to take youths off the street, reduce crime, and make them employable.

"We’re also calling on individuals and organizations to partner with us. Sponsor five Southeast youths you know, it will change their lives. And participants will also earn certificates in Hospitality, Tourism, Customer Care, and Aviation Soft Skills. So this is a chance to build human capital in the region!”

The summit will also bring together Industry Leaders, and Aviation Experts to connect with Youths and explore emerging job opportunities in the sector.

Agadibe said that registration is now open on Eastwing’s official platforms.
