Enugu West Plans Mega Rally, Declares Support for Gov. Mbah Ahead of 2027

Leaders from Enugu West Senatorial District have declared their support for the re-election of Peter Mbah, setting the stage for a major political endorsement rally scheduled for April 18, 2026.

At a press conference held in Enugu on Wednesday, the leaders described the forthcoming event as a unifying movement that transcends party lines and reflects the collective will of the people.

The rally, which will take place at Awgu Local Government Field, is expected to draw widespread participation from across the senatorial district.

Co-chairmen of the Central Planning Committee, Charles Egumgbe and Ben-Collins Ndu, said the endorsement is rooted in the perceived achievements of the Mbah administration within a short period.

According to them, the rally is not driven by partisan interests but represents a broad-based consensus among stakeholders, communities, and political actors in the district.

They pointed to ongoing developments in infrastructure, education, healthcare, and economic growth as key factors behind the growing support for the governor. The leaders noted that the administration has moved beyond campaign promises to deliver measurable progress across the state.

“Infrastructure is expanding, schools are being reimagined, healthcare is improving, and economic activity is gaining momentum,” the co-chairmen stated, adding that development is now being experienced tangibly by residents.

They further highlighted reforms in the education sector, emphasizing a shift from mere provision of facilities to a focus on long-term outcomes aimed at preparing young people for global competitiveness.

On the economic front, the leaders cited advancements in the aviation sector and increasing prospects for direct international travel routes from Enugu as indicators of a more connected and investment-friendly environment.

Egumgbe and Ndu stressed that the endorsement reflects confidence in Mbah’s leadership style, particularly his emphasis on strategic planning and execution. 

They also underscored the importance of maintaining continuity in governance while upholding the zoning arrangement, which they said ensures fairness and balance in the state’s political structure.

The leaders expressed optimism that power would rotate to Enugu West in the future, even as they pledged their support for Mbah’s second term bid.

They described the rally as more than a symbolic gesture, calling it a strong affirmation that effective leadership attracts widespread public backing.

Enugu West Senatorial District comprises five local government areas: Awgu, Udi, Aninri, Oji-River, and Ezeagu.
