Ex- APC Presidential aspirant, SKC Ogbonnia moves to ADC, urges opposition to unite
Ogbonnia dumped the APC, last week, citing dysfunctional administrations by the APC; failed governance, foreign military intervention
The Chairman of First Texas Corporation and 2019 presidential aspirant in the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. SKC Ogbonnia may have concluded plans to switch political alliance and move to the congregating opposition party, the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Ogbonnia is a founding member of the APC and worked for the late President Mohammadu Buhari emergence in 2015. He was however dissatisfied with the Buhari administration and ran against Buhari in the 2019 presidential election. Buhari was renominated by the APC, prompting Ogbonnia to mount campaigns against the Buhari administration.
Ogbonnia final dumped the APC, last week, citing dysfunctional administrations by the APC; failed governance, foreign military intervention, among reasons for quitting the ruling party.
Ogbonnia accused President Bola Tinubu of running a failed government which he said brought about foreign military intervention in Nigeria. He recalled that he became a founding member of the APC with high hopes for positive change, progress, and the overall development of Nigeria, which recent events and the party's trajectory have made it untenable and unbearable to continue his membership.
Ogbonnia wrote: "Specifically, the leadership of the party under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has failed to address critical issues like insecurity, poverty, and unemployment, which directly impacts the future of our people and the teeming youths."
He further alleged that President Tinubu has lost his voice with the Nigerian people and is treated as a political leper among our key allies, particularly the United States of America.
In a notice for declaration into the ADC, Ogbonnia invited ADC national, state and local government stalwarts of the ADC to his Owelli/Amoli/Ugbo/Ogugu ward office in Awgu Local Government Area of Enugu State on Thursday December 22, 2026.
Ogbonnia said that Nigeria stands on the precipice of a new era and wishes to join in making and building a better future for citizens.
"With your support, we can bring about the change that our country deserves. This declaration marks the beginning of a unified effort to bring forth solutions for the challenges we face and build a prosperous future for all citizens," Ogbonnia said.
He said that his political activism is for emerging generation and struggle for Nigeria's future.
