Tinubu reconciles Fubara, Wike, others
Hope rises for better Rivers state
The end of political crisis in Rivers state maybe insight, following the reconciliation of the suspended Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his godfather, Nysome Wike, by President Bola Tinubu, on Thursday.
Also reconciled were the Rivers state House of Assembly Speaker, Martins Amaewhule and the other members, together with the Deputy Governor, Mrs. Ngozi Odu, who were all suspended in the state of emergency that was declared in Rivers state.
The closed-door meeting at the Presidential Villa marked the first time Governor Fubara was seen with President Tinubu since the president declared a state of emergency in Rivers on March 18, citing the inability of the political leaders to work together and the growing insecurity in the state.
Thursday’s meeting appeared to signal a breakthrough in reconciliation efforts, as photographs released after the talks showed the president, governor, and minister smiling together.
Sources at the presidency say the meeting helped to reconcile the factions involved in the dispute that paralysed governance in the oil-rich state.
