Gov Mbah's non tamper with LG funds has paid off in Enugu - Odo, Council Chair

The Chairman of Igboetiti local government council, Dr. Eric Odo has disclosed that Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State does not meddle with local government federation allocation for the council areas in the state.

Odo stated that the Governor's financial responsibility has not only paid off for the state government, but in all the local government councils such as his; where he said that the Governor's attitude has encouraged them to channel the council resources to judicious uses.

According to Odo, the Governor Mbah has refused the temptation of delving into the local government funds but has rather effectively and judiciously utilized the state revenue in the infrastructure and social services of the state.

Odo said that his experience is that his council has utilized the revenue of the local government to establish lasting legacies in the council area such as in the areas of healthcare infrastructure, Information and Communication Technology (ICT), roads infrastructure, water provision, empowerment of the poor and the needy in the council area.

"These things would have been impossible if you don't have a character like Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, who on his own has refused the temptation of delving into the finances of the local government areas. We can tell you for sure that what you see as being shared in the federal allocation at Abuja is what gets to us as local government areas and that has made us to deploy the resources in the best way to use them," Odoh stated.

Odo made the disclosure in a press briefing to mark the continuation of projects commissioning in the council area and a solidarity rally for the support of Governor Mbah whom he said deserves all the support to continue his good works in the state.

Odo stated that communal crises which were recorded in the council area, particularly between Aku and Ikolo communities have been resolved while under his watch the Igboetiti local government council has been able to produce a template for cottage and general hospitals as a pro type that both the federal and state governments can copy.

"We revitalized a hospital and provided state of the art equipment that all types of surgeries can be conducted in the hospital. The laboratories are in good shapes, consultants in different fields will be employed and we can pay them salaries comparable to tertiary hospitals in the state. It has 24 hours power supply with Doctors and Nurses quarters. We did it as a template that could be replicated in any part of Nigeria and we recommend it for President Bola Tinubu's emulation," Odo disclosed.

The council chairman said that water and sanitation has improved in the council area, with local government becoming the only certified council in the state where there is no more open defecation. 

"I promised to be the chairman of the vulnerable. The affluents are taking back seats in this administration while the poor are taking front seats. We are interested in humanity with over 1,000 widows under our payroll and we are the best in job creation," Odo said.
