Amid defection rumours which is becoming ticker by the day, the 2023 presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP, Rabiu Kwankwaso, has continued consultations with the leadership of the African Democratic Party, ADP, in apparent move to smoothen his move.

The former Kano Governor on Thursday help a closed door meeting with Rauf Aregbesola, National Secretary of the ADC.

Sources indicate that the meeting forms part of final discussions between Kwankwaso and the ADC leadership as he prepares to join the opposition party.

Following his engagement with Aregbesola, Kwankwaso also met with ADC stakeholders from Kano at his residence in Abuja, further signaling progress in the talks.

The development comes days after the former Kano State governor hosted key political figures, including Peter Obi and Seyi Makinde, in what observers see as part of broader consultations ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Kwankwaso also disclosed via his official Facebook page that Seriake Dickson, representing Bayelsa West Senatorial District, recently visited him at his residence in Kano.

The series of high-level meetings has fueled speculation of a possible opposition realignment, with Kwankwaso’s anticipated move to the ADC expected to reshape political alliances in the lead-up to 2027.
