I’ll Attract Over ₦2 Trillion Investment to Ebonyi Within Six Months - Odii
I have over 2,000 people ready to invest ₦1bn each — PDP governorship candidate
By Emmanuel Igwe
Chief Ifeanyi Chukwuma Odii, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for the forthcoming 2027 Ebonyi State governorship election, has said he is determined to attract more than ₦2 trillion in private investment into the state within six months of assuming office, if elected governor.
Odii made the declaration while addressing his supporters in Lagos ahead of the formal flag-off of his campaign, explaining that his investment strategy had been deliberately structured to involve virtually every major sector of the state's economy.
According to him, he has developed a network of more than 2,000 prospective investors, each capable of committing about ₦1 billion, which he said could translate into over ₦2 trillion in investment when aggregated.
“I have over 2,000 people who can invest ₦1 billion each. When you multiply it, you will get over ₦2 trillion. This has been structured in such a way that all aspects of the economy will be involved,” Odii said.
He listed mining, hospitality, real estate and manufacturing, among other sectors, as areas targeted under the proposed investment drive.
Odii said his objective was not merely to bring money into Ebonyi, but to create an investment ecosystem capable of generating employment, expanding the state's productive base and opening new opportunities for young people and entrepreneurs.
The PDP candidate argued that Ebonyi's abundant natural resources and strategic location provide the state with considerable opportunities for economic transformation if properly harnessed.
He said his administration, if elected, would therefore place private-sector investment, industrialisation and job creation at the centre of its economic agenda.
The proposed investment programme, he explained, would also seek to encourage investors from within and outside Nigeria to establish businesses in Ebonyi, while creating an environment where existing businesses can expand.
Odii's declaration comes as political activities intensify ahead of the 2027 governorship election, with the PDP candidate positioning his campaign around economic development, wealth creation, employment and private-sector participation.
For Ebonyi, the critical question will be how such an ambitious investment target would be translated from a campaign promise into actual projects, jobs and measurable economic growth.
If implemented successfully, however, the proposed ₦2 trillion investment drive within six months would represent one of the most ambitious private-sector mobilisation programmes ever proposed for the state.
