Lawyers shout in Court as Judge returns Sowere to Abuja Prison
Omoyele Sowore

It was a chaotic session in the Abuja federal High Court, on Wednesday as Activist and Publisher, Omoyele Sowore was returned to Kuje prison pending the Court's decision on his plea for bail.

The drama came during a hearing on the matter on before Justice Mohammed Garba Umar of the Federal High Court in Abuja.

The Judge fixed June 30 for ruling on Sowore's motion seeking the restoration of his bail and the setting aside of a bench warrant issued against him.

Justice Umar adjourned the matter after parties adopted their processes in the application.

Earlier in the day, there were dramatic scenes in court over claims that some of Sowore’s lawyers were denied entrance into the court by security operatives.

It led to a shouting march which lasted for several minutes.

Sowore’s bail was revoked by the court on June 16 by the court.

It went ahead to issue a bench warrant for his arrest after he failed to appear in court for his trial regarding alleged cybercrime and criminal defamation.

Sowore is being tried by the Department of State Services, DSS, for referring to President Bola Tinubu as "a criminal".
