MEMORIAL: Onoh Family Marks 10th Anniversary of Late Matriarch, Lady Caroline
The children described her as a beacon of pure Christian devotion who walked through life with dignity, shielding her family with prayers and guiding them with wisdom
The family of the former Governor of old Anambra State, late Chief C.C. Onoh today remembers their late mother, Lady Caroline Chinweolu Onoh, former First Lady of Old Anambra State, who passed away ten years ago.
Lady Caroline Onoh died on June 17, 2016, at the age of 80. She was born on December 26, 1935, fulfilling a life of grace, faith, and service.
A memorial tribute released by her children described her as the “silent anchor” of the family and a matriarch of matchless grace.
In a heartfelt message, the children said a decade has passed since she peacefully returned to her Maker, yet the void left by her departure remains.
They described her as a beacon of pure Christian devotion who walked through life with dignity, shielding her family with prayers and guiding them with wisdom.
“Your life was a beautiful tapestry of simplicity, fierce love, and unyielding strength,” the tribute read.
“Today, your legacy continues to bloom vividly in the lives of the children and grandchildren you raised with such careful virtue.”
The family said they do not mourn as those without hope, but celebrate the glorious life she lived and thank God for giving them a mother who was a gift to the world.
Lady Caroline Onoh is survived by children who have served in prominent public and professional roles.
They include: Gabriel Maduka (GB) Onoh, a former Chairman of Enugu North Local Government Area and former Commissioner for Lands and Commerce, Enugu State; Nuzo Onoh, a British-Nigerian author and publisher; and Mrs Stella Nwoga Anyanechi.
The other Children of the late First Lady include Amb. Lilian I. Onoh, former Nigerian Ambassador to Namibia and Jamaica; Amb. Bianca O. Odumegwu-Ojukwu, the Minister for Foreign Affairs, and Denge (Dr) Josef Umunnakwe Onoh, former Southeast Spokesman to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, former Commissioner, and Executive Chairman of Enugu Capital Territory Development Authority.
The family tribute prays for her continued peaceful rest in the embrace of the Almighty until they meet to part no more.
