NDC Releases Electoral Committees for 2027 Primaries Across 36 States, FCT

The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has released the list of members of its electoral committees for the conduct of party primaries ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The list, released on Thursday through the party’s official X handle, covers committees for State House of Assembly, House of Representatives, Senate, governorship and presidential primaries across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

According to the party, the committees are expected to oversee and ensure the smooth conduct of the primaries in their respective states and zones.

In the South-East, Chief Asukewe Ikoawaji was appointed chairman of the Abia State committee, while Prof. Osita Ogbu will head the Anambra State committee. Dr. Peter Onigah was named chairman for Ebonyi State, Chief Teddy Obey for Enugu State, and Comrade Babatunde Ali for Imo State.

For the South-South zone, Barr. Fredrick Owotorufa was appointed chairman of the Edo State committee, while Dr. Osusu Osusu will lead the Rivers State committee. Other appointees include Dr. Clement Agiangie for Akwa Ibom, Engr. Biokpo Awara for Bayelsa, Iliya Kwajafa for Cross River, and Dr. Kabiru Umoru for Delta State.

In the South-West, Alhaji Sidi Abdul Bomi was named chairman of the Lagos State committee, while Akinlade Olagoke, Barr. Ojeh Jimmy, Hon. Babatunde Daodu, Hon. Oladejo Yinka and Comrade Adeolu Adewuyi will chair the committees in Ekiti, Ogun, Ondo, Osun and Oyo states respectively.

For the North-Central zone, Jenkins Gwede will chair the Benue committee, while CP Ezebuike Peter (Rtd) was appointed to head Kogi State. Dr. Okey Ezeala will oversee Nasarawa State, Hon. Richard Adams will head Niger State, and Dr. Pabara Igwele was named chairman for Plateau State. Chief Barnabas J. Ejisi will lead the FCT committee.

In the North-East, Williams Lappi was appointed chairman for Adamawa State, while Mr. Ande Karma, Comrade Mustafa Ali, Nura Abdulrazak, Barr. Umar Hassan and Alhaji Mohammed Sawa will head the committees in Bauchi, Borno, Gombe, Taraba and Yobe states respectively.

For the North-West zone, Tasiu Safiyanu Liman was named chairman of the Jigawa State committee, while Balarabe Ayuba will head Kaduna State.

Mainasara Sani Abubakar was appointed for Kano State, Suleiman Aliyu Baba for Katsina State, Saidu Jalo Bakuwai for Kebbi State, Bello Labaran Gwadabawa for Sokoto State, and Bashar Muhammed Marafa for Zamfara State.

The party stated that the committees would supervise the conduct of its primaries as part of preparations for the 2027 general elections.
