The Enugu State chapter of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has reiterated its determination to resist any attempt to hijack the party’s structure, while reaffirming its openness to members defecting from other political parties.

The State Chairman of the party, Dr. Johnpaul Anih, made the declaration on Wednesday while addressing members of the party’s State Executive Committee (SEC) during a meeting held in Enugu.

Anih stated that the NDC remains focused on building a broad-based political movement founded on internal democracy, discipline, and progressive ideals, stressing that the party would continue to strengthen its structures across the state.

According to him, the growing influx of new members into the party reflects increasing confidence in the NDC as a viable and credible alternative political platform, particularly in Enugu State.

He maintained that although the party remains receptive to well-meaning individuals seeking to join its fold, it would not tolerate actions capable of undermining its established structure or democratic principles.

The chairman emphasized that party leaders are committed to preserving unity and protecting the integrity of the organization against any form of political manipulation.

Anih also extended a reconciliation appeal to aggrieved and erring members, urging them to return and align themselves with the party’s collective vision.

“There is still room for reconciliation and unity within our ranks. However, we will not tolerate any attempt to hijack the party through the backdoor,” he stated.

The Enugu NDC leadership further reaffirmed its resolve to consolidate party structures across the 17 local government areas of the state, while urging members to remain united and focused ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The party also assured supporters of its commitment to transparency, fairness, and inclusive leadership as it continues efforts to expand its support base across the state.

On preparations for the 2027 elections, the party reaffirmed its commitment to presenting credible candidates capable of securing electoral victories and delivering quality leadership in the state.
