NELFUND disburses School fees to FUAHSE Students
NELFUND is another way of making Education free for Nigerian Students in Tertiary Institutions
The National Education Loan Fund, NELFUND, has disbursed the 2024/2025 School fees to students of the Federal University of Allied Heath Sciences Enugu, FUAHSE.
NELFUND is a Nigerian Government initiative aimed at providing student loans for Tertiary Education.
Speaking during the disbursement, on Wednesday, the Vice Chancellor of FUAHSE, Prof John Emaimo stated that the Federal Government Education Policy is a monumental activity aimed at relieving parents the burden of paying tuition fees for their children.
He noted that Nigerians have cause to appreciate the President Bola Tinubu's effort in the educational policy, unlike the scholarship scheme which he said is selective, but that NELFUND is for all eligible Nigeria students.
Emaimo urged the benefiting students to learn how to manage their finances, stating that NELFUND is a success, given that those who had paid their School fees will be refunded, the value of the Federal Government payment.
"This is another way of making Education free for Nigerian Students in Tertiary Institutions.
At the beginning the Students of this region had low enrollment into NELFUND, but it's to make the students be responsible. How to get the loan is simple, just follow the process.
"This is 2024/2025 disbursement, however, from now on, you have been enrolled into the 2025/2026 and the subsequent ones. The Federal Government has structured it and knows what to pay. I urged every Student to apply. The money is from responsible citizens who pay their taxes," Emaimo said.
Registrar of the University, Dr. Chris Igbokwe stated that NELFUND was instituted for all Nigerian Tertiary Students to have access to Education even if one is poor.
He urged more students of the University to henceforth apply to become NELFUND beneficiaries.
While distributing the Clearance for reimbursement to the Students, the Bursar of the University, Mrs Felicia Egbeh confirmed the recipient of the funds from the Federal Government adding that the Students should approach the Bursary Office with their identification, for immediate collection. She also advised the Students to be judicious in the usage of the funds.
Appreciating the Federal Government and the prompt stress-free disbursement by the University, the Students Union President, Comrade Ugwuoti Marius Ikechukwu, disclosed that, there's no dividend of Democracy for Students, that's more than reliving Parents of the burden of School fees, acknowledging the Education support Funds that the Federal Government also disbursed recently to Students directly.
In attendance also, were the Deputy Vice Chancellor of the University, The University Librarian, Dean of Students Affairs and the University's Public Relations Officer.
