NPMCN Engages FUAHSE Ahead of 20th Annual Scientific Conference in Enugu
NPMCN said that partnerships with universities like FUAHSE are critical to meeting the country’s growing need for specialized medical manpower and to maintaining standards in postgraduate medical education
The National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria, NPMCN, has intensified outreach to academic institutions as it prepares for its 20th Annual Scientific Conference and All Fellows’ Congress in Enugu.
A delegation from the college visited the Federal University of Allied Health Sciences Enugu, FUAHSE, on Tuesday to formally invite the institution to the event scheduled for August 3-7, 2026.
Speaking during the visit, NPMCN President Prof. Anthony Ikefuna said the college’s mandate is to regulate resident doctors and oversee postgraduate training for medical and dental doctors in Nigeria as a parastatal under the Federal Ministry of Health.
He said partnerships with universities like FUAHSE are critical to meeting the country’s growing need for specialized medical manpower and to maintaining standards in postgraduate medical education.
FUAHSE Vice Chancellor Prof. John Emaimo welcomed the delegation and said the university was ready to work with professional bodies to advance healthcare training and practice.
He noted that programmes such as Speech Therapy at FUAHSE were designed to expand the range of healthcare professionals available to the nation.
“Our doors are open for professionals to come in and offer improved medical practices for the nation, and we are happy to work with you,” Emaimo said.
He said the university shared common objectives with NPMCN in producing the skilled manpower required for Nigeria’s healthcare system and beyond. Emaimo also acknowledged the presence of senior practitioners on the delegation, including Prof. Sean Ohaegbulam, operator of Nigeria’s only neurosurgical hospital.
The NPMCN delegation included College Registrar Prof. Temitope A. Sean; Chairman of the Ceremonial Committee Prof. Emmanuel Jeje; Chairman of the Local Organising Committee Prof. Enweani; Secretary Dr. Akpe James; Deputy Secretary Prof. Osita Ezenwosu; Advisory Team member Prof. Sean Ohaegbulam; and Cardiologist Dr. Ejim.
The 20th Annual Scientific Conference and All Fellows’ Congress, ASCAF, will bring together fellows, residents, and stakeholders in medical education and practice to discuss advancements and challenges in the sector.
