The Ambassador-Designate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to the Republic of Mali, Ambassador Geoffrey Ijomah David Chima, has presented copies of his Letters of Credence to Mali's Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, His Excellency Abdoulaye Diop, in Bamako.

The presentation, which took place on Thursday, August 6, 2026, was followed by bilateral discussions focused on deepening cooperation between both countries in areas of mutual interest.

During the meeting, the two sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening diplomatic consultation mechanisms to promote a more productive and mutually beneficial South-South partnership.

They also discussed the evolving geopolitical situation in the sub-region, with particular emphasis on enhancing collaboration in the fight against terrorism and other security threats.

Both parties underscored the importance of solidarity, constructive political dialogue, and mutual trust among African states as critical tools for addressing shared regional challenges and advancing peace, stability, and sustainable development.
