The Movement for Actualisation of Sovereign State of Biafra, MASSOB, has declared that despite security intimidation, it must participate on Pro-Nnamdi Kanu peaceful protest scheduled for Monday in Abuja.

MASSOB's National Director of Information, Comrade Edeson Samuel, in statement on Sunday, asked the President Bola Tinubu administration to cover the stinking shame of Nigeria before the international communities with the release of the leader of the Indigenous Mazi Nnamdi Kanu from detention.

The group further advised President Tinubu to smartly use the Abuja city wide non violent protest as a soft landing for the release of Kanu from DSS custody.

It urged the President to harken to the numerous voices from home and diasporas calling for the unconditional release of Kanu.

MASSOB wondered why the federal government of Nigeria will openly engage with dreaded groups such as the bandits, Terrorists, and Boko Haram insurgents while it appears to demonstrate that there are two sets of laws in Nigeria – one for the people of the South-East and another for the rest of Nigeria.

"MASSOB will continue in our non violent agitation for Biafra actualization. Other geopolitical regions in Nigeria have six states, with some having seven; the South-East is the only region with five states, this is an indication of economic and political suppression and marginalization.

"The Federal Government of Nigeria is treating the South-East region with systematic subjection and pathological hatred with stinking impunity. If Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is from the northern or western region of Nigeria, would he have been detained by the DSS for all these years?

"The administration of President Ahmed Bola Tinubu has granted clemency to drug barons, murderers, and kidnappers, yet Nnamdi Kanu remains in DSS custody even though he is not a criminal.

"MASSOB reiterate our earlier decision to participate in the nationwide peaceful protest for the release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. There is no going back for our solidarity for our brother and Comrade.

"MASSOB categorically states that the clamour for Biafra as an independent and sovereign entity will continue to wax stronger with burning desire. We appreciate those who have joined MASSOB in calling for Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s unconditional and immediate release," Edeson said in the statement.
