Nursing, a passion, calling career ---VC Emaimo
It's an assumption of an extraordinary privilege of being a healer, a comforter
The Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Allied Health Sciences Enugu (FUAHSE), Prof John Emaimo has said that Nursing is more than just a career, but a calling that requires compassion, strength, and an unyielding desire that makes positive impact on the lives of others.
He added that Nursing is not just a case of taking on a job, but an assumption of an extraordinary privilege of being a healer, a comforter, and an advocate for those who need them most.
Emaimo made the remarks during the combined third induction ceremony of the Dental Nursing graduates of the University.
Performed by the Registrar of Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN), Prof Emaimo lauded the graduands for their diligent works, studying late into the night, enduring countless hours of clinical rotations, and mastering the intricacies of patient care.
He noted that their role as nurses will be pivotal in shaping the future of healthcare as the country navigates a rapidly evolving medical landscape with a demand for skilled, compassionate nurses.
"Your unique perspectives, diverse backgrounds, and innovative ideas will be essential in addressing the challenges we face today and those we will encounter in the future. The world needs your voices, passion, and dedication more than ever," Emaimo told the graduates.
He encouraged them to embrace the core values or profession such as compassion, competence, integrity, and respect.
"These values will guide your actions and decisions as you care for your patients and work alongside your colleagues. Remember that you are not alone in this journey, you will find companionship and support from fellow nurses, mentors, and the broader healthcare community," Emaimo mentored.
