ODERA: Nnamani Set to Emerge PDP Consensus Candidate in Enugu
Nnamani’s entry adds fresh momentum to PDP’s preparations as the party seeks to retain control of Enugu State in the next election cycle
Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Chieftain, Chief Samson Chukwu Nnamani, popularly known as ODERA, has formally entered the 2027 Enugu State governorship race after obtaining the party’s Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms on Wednesday.
The move signals the official start of what he calls a “collective journey to reclaim Enugu State and usher in a new era of purposeful, people-centered leadership.”
Party insiders say Nnamani is emerging as a front-runner for a 'consensus candidacy', in line with PDP’s long-standing practice of rallying around a single flagbearer in key elections.
If confirmed, the arrangement could eliminate a divisive primary and give the party an early advantage in consolidating support ahead of the general election.
“This is not just about ambition,” Nnamani said after submitting the forms. “It’s about restoring public trust in governance, strengthening our institutions, and delivering policies that directly address the needs and aspirations of the people of Enugu State.”
The development has already stirred political activity across the state, with analysts noting that a consensus ticket could reshape early alliances within the PDP and alter the broader contest in 2027.
Supporters have wasted no time amplifying the campaign online, mobilizing under the slogan #Odera2027 as they push for wider grassroots backing.
Nnamani’s entry adds fresh momentum to PDP’s preparations as the party seeks to retain control of Enugu State in the next election cycle.
