Osun Aug 15: I'll Win, Force Can't Stop People's Mandate - Adeleke

Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has declared that he remains certain of winning the August 15, 2026 governorship election, insisting that no amount of political pressure or intimidation would prevent his re-election if the poll is conducted freely and fairly.

Speaking on Monday at his re-election campaign rally in Osogbo, the governor said he was undeterred by what he described as the challenges and pressures mounted against him, expressing confidence that the people of Osun would return him to office.

"With God on my side, I am confident of victory. If this election is free and fair, I will win," Adeleke said.

The governor alleged that members of the Accord Party were being attacked and killed ahead of the election, calling on President Bola Tinubu to intervene by directing security agencies, particularly the police, to remain professional, impartial and committed to protecting lives and the integrity of the electoral process.

"Mr. President, something is happening in Osun that you need to know. Our people are being killed and, as our father, we are appealing to you.

"We will not accept any attempt to rig this election. Do not allow innocent people to be killed. Direct the police to act professionally and impartially.

"You fought for democracy, and I urge you not to allow anyone to destroy it. The international community is watching, and this election will be seen as a test ahead of the 2027 general elections," he said.

Adeleke urged eligible voters to come out in large numbers on election day and defend their votes until the final results are announced.

"I urge all our supporters to come out on August 15 and vote for me. Stand by your votes until the results are declared," the governor said, expressing confidence that the will of the people would prevail at the polls.
