Osun 'll Dance Again: Onoh Congratulates Adeleke, Davido; Demands Apology To Faleke

Denge Josef Onoh, the former Southeast Spokesman to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Chairman of the Forum of Former Members of Enugu State House of Assembly, has congratulated Governor Ademola Adeleke on his victory in the just-concluded 2026 gubernatorial election.

Additionally, Onoh issued a glowing tribute to global music icon David Adeleke popularly known as Davido.

He commended the megastar for his historic dedication, commitment, and fierce loyalty to family during the Osun State political struggles. Onoh stated that Davido’s role in the political landscape transcends entertainment, marking him as a pivotal catalyst for a new era of youth consciousness and democratic resilience in Nigeria.

However, alongside the celebrations, Onoh firmly demanded that Davido issue an immediate apology to the lawmaker representing Ikeja Federal Constituency, Hon. James Faleke, for wrongly accusing him of allegedly pressuring the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to rig the election on behalf of the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate.

"Onoh, while paying a well-deserved tribute to David Adeleke, said he has rewritten the script of family solidarity and democratic engagement in Nigeria. Onoh went further to say that David Adeleke (Davido) has shown the world that true greatness is not just in global hits or sold-out arenas, but in an incorruptible commitment to blood ties and justice.

"In a political terrain often marred by betrayal, Davido redefined the true meaning of family bonds in a manner never before witnessed in Nigeria’s political space. His unwavering loyalty to his uncle, Governor Ademola Adeleke, was absolute. He did not just support from the sidelines; he threw his entire brand, energy, and life into the trenches. Onoh said that Davido campaigned with a fierce passion, galvanising voters across every nook and cranny of Osun State, often exerting more energy and visibility on the campaign trail than even the candidate himself.

"Through his actions, Davido inspired and reignited a new generation of Nigerians. He woke up a sleeping giant of youth voters, transforming mere entertainment followership into a potent, conscious political movement. He showed the youths that they have a stake in governance, ushering in a fresh brand of political passion and consciousness that will shape Nigeria for decades. Davido stands today as the undisputed face of victory to the resilient people of Osun State.

"Nevertheless, politics must be anchored on truth, and character assassination should have no place in our democratic journey. Onoh used the medium to strongly demand that Davido apologize to Hon. James Faleke. Davido got it completely wrong by falsely accusing Faleke of pressuring INEC to rig the election in favor of the APC.

"The Faleke I know has never rigged an election in his political life. He is a man of pristine democratic credentials who has been repeatedly re-elected by his constituents in Lagos based entirely on his unwavering dedication, fierce commitment to internal party democracy, and unrivaled representation at the National Assembly. Throwing reckless tantrums on social media against respected leaders is unacceptable, and Davido must gracefully retract those allegations and apologize.

"Onoh acknowledged that this overall democratic triumph thrived because of the environment maintained at the center. Despite unwarranted provocations, baseline tensions, and fierce accusations, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu demonstrated in every step his absolute commitment to the preservation of democracy. By ensuring a level playing field and resisting the urge to weaponize federal might against the wishes of the people, the President proved that democracy must be allowed to breathe. Osun State stands today as a testament to that democratic preservation.

"On a final note, Onoh congratulated Gov. Ademola Adeleke and urged him to use his victory and second term in office towards meaningful development of the state and welfare of the people, while ensuring Osun State will dance again—but with better, hotter dance steps to the rhythm."
