Prosecute Ezeani, Ezeagu Ritual Native Doctor, or Face Legal Action - Amujiogu Charges Police
Ezeani

Legal luminary and the Executive Director of the Temple of Justice foundation, Ozo Alex Amujiogu, has threatened to drag the Enugu State police command to court if it fails within seven days to present before a court, the suspected ritual murder and an Ezeagu Native Doctor, High Chief Levi Onyema Obu, also known as Ezeani.

Recall that the native doctor, Ezeani, a native doctor was arrested by the Nigerian Immigration Service while attempting to flee the country through the Benin Republic land border on May 29 2025 following multiple allegations of ritual murder, kidnapping, among other crimes levied against him.

But Amujiogu is worried that despite preliminary investigation showing claim of discovery of dead bodies of kidnap victims including a heavily pregnant woman discovered buried in Ezeani's compound and the rescue of a 13-year old girl from the scene, nothing or no meaningful legal outcome has emerged after over two months.

Amujiogu said that the prolonged detention of Ezeani in police facility without trial calls for a clear answer from the police on why investigation has not yet been completed and concluded.

He said that the police in Enugu state must know that the 1999 Constitution of Nigeria (As Amended) under Section 36, pungently guarantees the right to fair hearing which also entails fair investigation.

"The said ground norm further guaranteed the right to personal liberty under Section 35 which mandates the police force under it's subsection 4 and 5, to charge any person arrested and detained at most, within 48 hours from the date of incarceration .

"The suspect, with alleged quantum of evidence recovered from him,

one pause to wonder, what is then holding the conclusion of police investigation report more than two months now, when the law had clearly provided a limitation time for investigation especially where the suspect is in detention," Amujiogu petitioned.

He maintained that constitutionally, based on the nature of the alleged offence and outcry/condemnation following same, the suspect should have been charged to court or otherwise, as the reasonable time allowed by law has long elapsed.

He stressed that criminal investigation cannot be allowed to continue ad infinitum (indefinitely) let alone a case of such nature where tangible evidence to be investigated have all been laid bare before the bosom arm of the police force.

"To the foundation, this delay, in all intent and purposes, can no longer be tolerated as time for the police authority to act is now.

"Consequently, the foundation is therefore constrained to issue sever (7) days ultimatum to the leadership of Enugu State Police Command to immediately conclude their investigation on Ezeani saga without further ado and appropriately charge him to court as provided by law.

"In the unlikely event that the police authority fails, refuse and/neglect to harken to the above demands, they should be sure as day follows night that we shall activate the prerogative force of Mandamus against them. Justice must always be done and actually seen to have been done . However, in this case, we have not seen Justice yet."
