BREAKING: Gov Peter Mbah may defect to APC July
Lion Building Race for 2027 hits up
Barring any unexpected development, Governor Peter Mbah will in July 2025 defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC) from his People's Democratic Party (PDP) where he became governor of Enugu State in 2023.
Daily Insider was reliably informed by a top politician in Enugu state that Mbah has concluded discussion with the hierarchy of the APC and has been given express passage into the national ruling party.
The source however said that the problem that Governor Mbah may have is the issue of the Minister for Innovation, Science and Technology, Chief Uche Nnaji who is believed to be nursing the ambition of running for Governorship again in 2027 after he lost the 2023 election to Mbah.
Mbah is said to be considering defecting to the APC because of the instability in the PDP where the choice of who becomes the National Secretary of the party from the south east has turned members of the party apart, particularly in the zone.
The FCT minister, Nysome Wike had last month warned that Governor Mbah was pointing fingers into his eyes with his taking sides with Hon. Ude-Okoye as his preferred national secretary instead of Samuel Anyanwu who is Wike's Man Friday.
Despite that, Governor Mbah had gone ahead making arrangements for the completion of the PDP south east zonal Secretariat in Enugu but has now changed his mind to opt for the APC because of the uncertainties in the PDP with Wike as a major problem bent on ensuring that PDP is tarnished before 2027.
