Reactions as family confirms Rev. Uma Ukpai dead

Reactions have trailed the announcement of the death of international evangelist, Rev Dr. Uma Ukpai.

Sources said that the Evangelist died on October 6th 2025, but the announcement confirming his death was made by the family on Monday, October 13th.

Aged 80, Ukpai was founder of the Uma Ukpai Evangelistic Association. His death surfaced on the social media on Monday, prompting tributes from Christians worldwide. 

The Pentecostal leader, born in 1945 in Abia State, Nigeria, built a global ministry through crusades, evangelism, and social programs after converting in 1958 following early hardships. 

Netizans took to the social media to express their sadness over the death of the evangelist.

Morris Money wrote on X (formerly Twitter): "Saddened to hear of the passing of one of God’s mighty General on earth, Rev. Uma Ukpai. He was a very charismatic preacher in the 80s and 90s whose message of deliverance liberated lives from the Kingdom of darkness. Heaven has called His own back."

According to a statement signed by the Ukpai family and titled “Glorious Transition,” Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpai passed on to glory on October 6, 2025, at the age of 80.

The family described him as “a faithful soldier of the cross” who dedicated over six decades of his life to fiery evangelism, dynamic teaching of the Word, and prophetic demonstrations of the power of God.

The statement added that his ministry impacted millions of lives and transformed destinies both within Nigeria and around the world.
