Nigeria's former Senate President, Bukola Saraki was at the Puskás Arena in Budapest on Saturday to cheer Arsenal in the UEFA Champions League final against Paris Saint-Germain.
Saraki announced his presence on X, posting photos from the 67,000-capacity stadium with the message: “Live at the Puskás Arena, Budapest for the Champions League Final. COME ON YOU GUNNERS!!”
The long-time Arsenal supporter has followed the Gunners through the competition. He attended the quarter-final tie against Real Madrid at the Emirates and met winger Bukayo Saka after Arsenal’s 5-1 aggregate win at the Santiago Bernabéu.
Saraki is also founder of Abubakar Bukola Saraki Football Club, a Nigeria National League side based in Ilorin, Kwara State.
Saturday’s final wraps up the 71st season of Europe’s premier club competition and the 34th since its rebrand as the Champions League. It is the first time Hungary has hosted the final, having staged the Europa League final in 2023.
Saraki served as the 13th president of the Nigerian Senate from 2015 to 2019, and was governor of Kwara State from 2003 to 2011.
