The supreme court, on Thursday, got divided on whether to give credibility to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) national convention in Ibadan Oyo state that produced Tanimu Turaki as it's National Chairman on November 15 and 16, 2026.

While three out of five members of the panel set aside the Ibadan national convention, the two other Judges disagreed.

In the split judgment, the three members of the five-justice panel ruled that the appeal brought by the faction of the party led by Tanimu Turaki was without merit.

Reading the lead judgment, Stephen Adah stated that the appellants acted in breach of a subsisting order issued by the federal high court, which had restrained them from going ahead with the proposed convention.
