Suspects Confess to Killing Ex-OGTV Broadcaster Over Past Grievance
The case began after residents flagged suspicious activity at Oyesiku’s residence. Detectives found signs of forced entry
Three suspects are in police custody for the murder of former OGTV broadcaster Olakitan Oyesiku and her security guard Pelumi Adetayo, with the prime suspect telling police the attack was to “teach her a lesson.”
Ogun State Commissioner of Police Bode Ojajuni gave the update Thursday at the command headquarters in Eleweran, Abeokuta.
The case began after residents flagged suspicious activity at Oyesiku’s residence. Detectives found signs of forced entry. Adetayo, 38, was found dead in the security post, and Oyesiku’s body was later discovered inside the apartment. Her missing Lexus RX330 was recovered during the investigation.
A note found in the vehicle led police to Sodeinde Olajuwon Philip, 22, who was arrested June 24, 2026, at a construction site in Ibara GRA where he worked as a laborer. Two accomplices — Sakirudeen Abdulraheem Ayoola, 27, a security guard, and Sobu Obafunsho, 36, a bricklayer — were also arrested.
Ojajuni said Philip confessed to planning the attack over grievances from when he worked as a security guard for Oyesiku. He admitted recruiting the other two men.
Police say the murder happened on Saturday afternoon, June 20, 2026. The suspects allegedly overpowered Adetayo, used him to enter the house, then killed both victims before fleeing in the Lexus. The car was later tracked to Onikolobo.
Items recovered include a broken hammer, cutlass, plank, and black pen linked to the suspects.
“Investigation is ongoing to consolidate evidence and ensure diligent prosecution,” Ojajuni said, noting that the suspects remain entitled to due process. “The Command is committed to ensuring justice is served.”
