Tinubu making efforts to arrest me - El-Rufai
El-Rufai helped President Tinubu to win election. He was subsequently nominated for Ministerial appointment but failed to pass through the Senate screening
Malami Nasiru El-Rufai, the former governor of Kaduna State, has developed fears that the President Bola Tinubu administration is making every effort to frame him with allegations and subsequently arrest him.
He said that already some of the people he worked with in the last administration of late President Mohammadu Buhari have been arrested.
Recall that El-Rufai helped President Tinubu to win election. He was subsequently nominated for Ministerial appointment but failed to pass through the Senate screening and was dropped. Since then El-Rufai turned against the administration of President Tinubu.
Recall also that the eight years administration of El-Rufai in Kaduna state witnessed a lot of bloodshed, particularly against Christians in the state who were killed by terrorists.
El-Rufai as Governor under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), on occasions, accepted that he gave billions of Naira to terrorists in the state who killed Christians.
El-Rufai, now a prominent figure in the opposition African Democratic Congress (ADC), made the allegation of possible arrest, during an interview with BBC Hausa service, on Wednesday.
He also accused the ruling APC of mounting pressure on politicians to either defect to the party or remain within its fold.
The former governor, who has in recent months intensified his criticism of President Bola Tinubu’s administration and the APC said that some of his associates have already been detained.
“Four people we worked with in Kaduna have been arrested; so it’s only a matter of time before they come for me too,” he stated.
El-Rufai’s remarks come against the backdrop of the arrest and ongoing trial of former Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami.
