UPDATE: Obasanjo shuns Enugu NBA conference

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo, on Sunday, failed to honour the Nigeria Bar Association, NBA, Conference taking place in Enugu.

Insider reports that no official reason was given by the former president for turning down the invitation.

Obasanjo was designated as the chairman of the conference, but he was replaced by the Sultan of Sokoto, Mohammad Sa'ad Abubakar who chaired the conference on Sunday.

Daily Insider reported that there was chaotic environment in around Independent layout venue of the ongoing NBA conference.

Roads were blocked from about one kilometer distance to the venue of the conference, causing traffic confusion as motorists diverted through long distances to get to their destinations.

The state government had earlier announced diversion of traffics around the conference venue, particularly for tricycles and other commercial vehicles.

Over 20,000 lawyers are converging on the Coal City for the event themed "Stand Out, Stand Tall."
