The recipients achieved development and registration of different estates, the new Orie Ugwogo market among other things

Ugwumba confers Chieftaincy on 15 Ugwogo illustrious sons

The traditional custodian of Umunonu-Umuezeani Ugwogo community in Enugu East local government area, Hon. Chief Joseph Agbo Ugwumba has conferred Chieftaincy on 15 prominent indigenes of the community.

Conferring the honours on the citizens, Chief Ugwumba said that the conferment would have taken place over ten years ago, but for some community internal hiccups which he said have sime been overcame.

The recipients were members of the Peace and Development Committee of the community who achieved for the community the development of five Registered Layout with Ministry of Lands Enugu State. 

The layout are Unity Layout Phase 1 & 2, Peace Layout Phase 1 & 2, Umunzu Layout and the New Orie Ugwogo Nike Market in Partnership with Private Developers and Enugu East Local government council.

The community also saw to the new Orientation Ugwogo Market which has over six thousand Shops and other business facilities. The Development of the Market is still on going.

The recipients with their titles are: Hon Chief Donatus Agbodo (Onye Udo); Chief Francis Okoh (Ugo Chukwu Tubelu); Chief Bar. Chukwuemeka Agbo (Anya Naeche Obodo); Chief Godwin Agbo (Agu Agu); Chief Chijioke Udemezue Okoh ( Ejuenyim); Chief Anthony Chibueze Ede (Eche Ibe) and Chief Dr. Sunday Agbo (Chinemeze); 

Others include, Chief Peter Nnamdi Agbo (Ezesinachi); Chief Okolo Okechukwu Ruben (Prince Umuezeani); Chief Ugwu Cajethan Oko (Miri Welu Ugo); Chief Hon. Nnamani Michael Sunday (Eze Nkanu Uka); Chief Sunday Kingsley Nwabuisi (Ezimo Afa ka Ego); Chief Emma Onyeabor Agbodo (Nwatu Kwocha); Chief Clement Okonkwo Ugwu (Mbah Ama Onye Ukwu) and Chief Sunday Remigus Ikolo (Ohamadike).

Ugwumba stressed that the title holders did not receive the honour with riches, but because of their peaceful dispositions which brought stability to the community.

"They have worked for the community in the past 14 years. They are being conferred because they worked well. This is an oath which comes with some challenge. I pray that your conducts in the society would be like your title names," Ugwumba prayed.

Speaking shortly after the conferments, the Chairman of Enugu East local government council, Pastor Beloved-Dan Anike, stated that Nike is a great town and urged the community members to begin to assert who they are because Nike is a rallying point with a gift of God to resolve complex issues. 

"We are going back to what we were known for before the encroachment of urbanization that changed our ways. We will ensure that our young ones will get the best of education, I will do my best as local government chairman to raise the future generation that will take over from us," Anike said.

A friend of the community, Engr. Okwuchukwu Emejuru, appreciated the community members for the support they have been giving to Chief Ugwumba, noting that their support confirms Ugwumba as a good man, which makes people have support for him.

An Estate developer in the community, Surveyor Victor Nnam, commended the title recipients for their patriotism in the affairs of the community and urged them do more with their awards.

Responding, on behalf of the recipients, the President of Umunonu-Umuezeani Ugwogo community, Chief Donatus Agbodo vouched that the new Chief will henceforth work more for the community development and made encomium on Chief Agbo Ugwumba.
