WIKE: 'Fake' resignation letter of FCT minister surfaces
Inquiries made by Daily Insider to verify the authenticity of the letter indicated that the minister has not resigned his position
A letter purported to have emanated from the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, claiming to have resigned his his position is now on circulation.
The letter which was not addressed to nobody in particular, dated March 30th 2026, suggested that Wike threw in the towel to pursue a presidential ambition in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Inquiries made by Daily Insider to verify the authenticity of the letter indicated that the minister has not resigned his position despite calls from certain quarters asking for his resignation.
In the letter titled "RESIGNATION FROM OFFICE," Wike was quoted to have written: "I hereby tender my formal resignation as the Honourable Minister of the Federal Capital Territory under the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
"This decision has not been made lightly, but after deep reflection on my political journey, national aspirations, and the urgent need to contribute at a higher level to the progress and unity of our great nation. I remain grateful to Mr. President for the opportunity to serve and for the confidence reposed in me during my tenure
"As I step down from this esteemed office, I wish to formally declare my intention to contest in the 2027 Presidential Election under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
"I am committed to offering visionary leadership, fostering national development, and strengthening democratie values across Nigeria. I extend my appreciation to my colleagues, staff, and the Nigerian people for their support, and I remain dedicated to the service of our nation.
"Yours faithfully, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike; Former Honourable Minister Federal Capital Territory."
