JUST IN: Reason there is no light in Enugu on Sunday

The present owner outage in parts of Enugu State can now be confirmed to have emanated from the state electricity distribution company, MainPower Electricity Distribution Limited (MEDL).

The company had announced that there will be a power outage in some parts of Enugu metropolis to enable its engineers carry out major repairs.

The Head, Communications of MEDL, Mr Emeka Ezeh, disclosed this in a statement on Sunday in Enugu.

Ezeh said that the power outage had been scheduled to take place on May 10 from 8a.m to 6p.m.

He noted that the power outage is to provide a safe working environment for engineers to conclude work on the reconstructed Emene Industrial Lines 1 and 2 towers.

The Mainpower spokesman said that the engineers would also carry out the restringing of wires.

He said that as a result, power supply to the following 33KV lines would be temporarily disrupted: Trans Ekulu, Thinkers Corner, Ituku Ozalla, and Ugwogo.

"Consequently, customers residing in Trans-Ekulu, Emene, Thinkers Corner, Emenite, Airport, Alo Aluminium, Akpuoga, Nkwubor, Ugwuomu, Abakpa-Nike, Nike-Lake, Ugwogo, and surrounding areas served by affected 33KV lines will be without electricity supply during the period.

"We sincerely regret the inconvenience this may cause our esteemed customers.

"We also appeal for their understanding and cooperation, especially some customers served by Emene Industrial Lines 1 and 2 who have been without supply for some days," he said.

The spokesman said that power supply would be restored immediately after the completion of the exercise.
