In commemoration of Workers’ Day 2026, the Member representing Enugu East/Isi Uzo Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Prof. Paul Nnamchi, has paid glowing tribute to workers across the constituency, praising their resilience and vital contributions to society.

In a statement released on Friday, Nnamchi described workers as “the engine of the economy and the backbone of local governments,” acknowledging their efforts across critical sectors including education, healthcare, agriculture, commerce, and public service.

He highlighted the indispensable role played by workers in sustaining development in Enugu State, noting that their daily sacrifices continue to drive growth and stability.

The lawmaker reaffirmed his commitment to advocating for worker-friendly legislation at the National Assembly, emphasizing the need for fair wages, safe working conditions, social protection, and the preservation of dignity in labour.

Nnamchi also linked his legislative agenda to the broader Renewed Hope framework, stressing that its success must be reflected in tangible improvements in workers’ lives, including prompt salary payments and policies that enhance productivity.

He called for unity and continued collaboration among constituents to build a state where hard work is rewarded, talent is nurtured, and workers can look forward to a dignified retirement.

The statement concluded with goodwill messages to workers across the constituency and the nation, extending blessings to Nigeria as the country marks the annual celebration of labour.
