Marist Brothers’ Juniorate Old Boys Association, XJAYS International, marked one year of transformational leadership with a 2026 Annual General Meeting and Reunion in Port Harcourt, unveiling new investments, chapter reactivations, and plans for financial independence.

The 3-day event aligned with the Feast Day of Saint Marcellin Champagnat, founder of Marist Brothers’ Schools. It opened with a Holy Mass and closed Sunday morning with a farewell Mass, underscoring the association’s Marist and spiritual roots.

International President Ikenna Aghaji presented his one-year stewardship report, describing the period as defined by “structured planning, increased participation and deliberate steps toward financial sustainability.”

“We are already one year in office. It has been a memorable year filled with good news and achievements to the glory of God,” Aghaji told members.

His administration introduced monthly planning briefs titled "Proposed Activities for XJAYS International Exco for the Month" to boost transparency. The central goal, he said, is to make XJAYS International financially independent through sustainable investments.

The Public Relations Officer of XJAYS International, Anthony Nnodum, disclosed that the AGM’s biggest highlight was a report on key investments. XJAYS International acquired “XJAYS House” in Abuja - a 3-bedroom bungalow on a 500sqm plot at Army Scheme II, Kurudu.

Commissioned by Marist Provincial Brother Mark Omede, the property was leased for ₦2.6 million and is currently occupied. Another rental cycle is expected before December 2026.

The association also reported progress on its agricultural investment under LOCHI Farms. ₦2.25 million was invested in five young cattle, projected to mature into ₦3.5 million by December 2026 - an estimated profit of ₦1.25 million.

“These investments are part of a broader strategy to reduce reliance on dues and strengthen the long-term financial base,” Aghaji explained.

The Port Harcourt Chapter was commended for hosting the reunion and covering heavy logistics and hospitality costs.

“This is the first time a host chapter is taking up such heavy expenditure. God bless the Port Harcourt Chapter,” Aghaji said.

Other developments include:

1. Chapter revitalisation: Umuahia Chapter reactivated after 2 years of inactivity and held elections for the first time in a decade.

2. Member learning: Monthly Zoom Knowledge Series on entrepreneurship, health, investment, and personal development.

3. Documentation: Monthly XJAYS Newsletter launched to preserve records and improve communication across chapters.

The reunion featured a novelty football match between older alumni, Class of 2004 and earlier, and younger alumni from 2005–2023. The game ended in a goalless draw, showcasing intergenerational camaraderie.

The birthday of Pioneer Emeritus President Innocent Ikechukwu Odo, which coincided with the Feast Day, was also celebrated as “symbolically significant” within the association’s heritage.

For service, Dr. Chris Aghalibe, International Secretary, was honoured for administrative excellence, while the Abuja Chapter Vice President was recognised for commitment to organisational development.

Looking ahead, members approved Enugu Chapter to host the 2027 XJAYS International Reunion, while Aba Chapter will host the second XJAYS Business Summit in November 2027.

In closing, Aghaji thanked members, trustees, and stakeholders for their support and urged continued collaboration to sustain reforms.

XJAYS International reaffirmed its commitment to unity, investment growth, and community development anchored on Marist values.
