VIDEO: Over 2000 patients receive free medical care in Ikem

The Chief Chukwuemeka and Lolo Dr Chioma Agbo foundation has treated no less than 2000 patients from Ikem and surrounding communities in Isi-Uzo local government area of Enugu state.

The foundation also embarked on promotion and harvest of entertainment talents in the community as part of the yuletide.

Speaking on the 2025 edition of the special charity project, promoter of the foundation, Chief Chukwuemeka Agbo, popularly known as Ogbuefi, said that the free medical care has been running for 13 years on every 29 and 30th December of every year.

He noted what makes the 2025 edition special was the inclusion of elders of Ikem community Ndioha) in the project, where apart from the free medical care given to the elders, Christmas regalia were made for them as uniform with other welfare packages.

Agbo said that the elders were particularly important because of the roles they play as custodians of the Ikem community, overseeing to the resolution of community matters, adding that they are all for the good of the people.

He charged them to remain truthful, as they have always been, in discharge of their responsibilities.

One of the medical doctors in the outreach team, Dr. Nwekwe Emmanuel, said that he had participated in the outreach programme for over five years, noting that Agbo and the wife Dr. Chioma are humanists beyond perfection.

"The diseases we encounter are multiple, coming from malaria endemic zone, majority of them come with symptoms of malaria, typhoid fever. Some come with chronic illnesses like tuberculosis, although we refer such patients; others come with diabetics. The most common illness is uncontrolled hypertension. There are surgical cases that are beyond an outreach," Nwekwe said.

Among the upcoming artists that featured on the gala nite closing ceremony included a content creator, Ada Ikem; stand up comedians such as Nolly White, Oga vawulence and musicians - Emmy sung, JT sung, Son of Man and Sorochi.
