2027: Ohanaeze Ndigbo never endorsed Tinubu - Mbata
Mbata wondered how Ohanaeze Ndigbo that is not a political party can endorse a politician for an elective position
The President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, Senator John Azuta Mbata, has refuted a purported endorsement of President Bola Tinubu for the 2027 general elections by the apex Igbo group.
Certain persons who purportedly claimed to be leaders of Ohanaeze Ndigbo had claimed that the Igbo group endorsed President Tinubu for a second term.
But Mbata in refutal of the claim described the dissident group of Igbo as fake elements that have vowed to tarnish the image of the Igbo nation.
Mbata wondered how Ohanaeze Ndigbo that is not a political party can endorse a politician for an elective position in an arena that Ohanaeze lacks jurisdiction.
Mbata said, "This (endorsement) is not to my knowledge. Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide is a socio-cultural organization. Not a political party. It is not in a position to endorse or refuse to endorse anyone."
Mbata said that Ohanaeze suspects the dissidents are being sponsored by some influential politicians but urged the general public to note that there is only one leadership of Ohanaeze Ndigbo led by himself as the President General.
