Achi Clan Disowns Ugo Omere’s Interview, Affirms 2027 Support for Gov Mbah
The rebuttal said there is “no cause for alarm” in Achi Clan and Oji River over the 2027 elections, and that the APC has taken over the area
The Achi Clan in Oji River Local Government Area of Enugu State has disowned an online interview by one Ugo Omere, saying he was not authorized to speak for the clan and that his remarks do not reflect the position of the Achi people.
In a disclaimer issued on Sunday, the All Progressives Congress (APC) Mandate Squad in Achi Clan said Omere holds no recognized position within the clan’s traditional or community structures, including as traditional ruler, President-General, chairman of the Achi Improvement Union, or youth and women’s leader.
“Achi clan does not recognize any mandate for him to speak or act on its behalf. Any claim to represent the clan in this capacity is false and unauthorized,” the statement read.
The clan said it has collectively resolved to support Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah’s re-election and urged the public to disregard the interview, advising that official communications should come through the recognized traditional council and leadership structures.
In a separate rebuttal signed by Nze Jeff Uke, also on behalf of the APC Mandate Squad in Achi Clan, the group dismissed the interview as the “ranting of minor confused opposition elements” who sponsored Omere to parade as a spokesman.
The rebuttal said there is “no cause for alarm” in Achi Clan and Oji River over the 2027 elections, and that the APC has taken over the area.
It cited ongoing infrastructural projects, including the flag-off of over 35km of road network linking Achi Clan to two LGAs, as evidence of the administration’s impact.
“Our traditional rulers, town unions and APC members are at peace with our governor,” the statement said, adding that the group’s appreciation would be reflected in votes in 2027.
The group reaffirmed loyalty to Governor Mbah and the APC, saying the party operates through organized structures from zonal to ward levels in the area.
