Peter Mbah third sports championship finals kicks-off in Enugu, today
The Championship is the culmination of sporting events held in the various Secondary Schools a the last two weeks, in the six Educational Zones of the State
The finals of the third edition of Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, Secondary Schools Sports Championship, kicks- off, on Wednesday, 11th March, 2026, at Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu.
According to a release by the Director Information, Ministry of Youth and Sports, Mr Dan Onwuegbuna, the Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Hon. Barrister, Lloyd Ikechukwu Ekweremadu, said the Championship is designed to discover hidden sports talents, nurture and expose them to international stardom.
He explained that the Championship is the culmination of sporting events held in the various Secondary Schools a the last two weeks, in the six Educational Zones in the State, namely Agbani, Awgu, Enugu, Nsukka, Udenu and Udi.
He noted that 60 athletes from each of the six Educational Zones, totalling 360 athletes will be competing for honours in football, volleyball, Table Tennis, games and in athletic events such as 100 metres 200 metres 400 metres, by 400 metres and 4 by 400metres, relay races.
Other events include, High jump, long jump, Shot- put, Discus and javelin boys and girls respectively.
The Commissioner, invited Secondary School students, teachers, sportsmen and women and members of the public to the Championship, which he said, promises to be ,exciting and entertaining display of raw sporting talents in the State.
