The House of Representatives member for Enugu East/Isi-Uzo Federal Constituency of Enugu State, Prof Paul Nnamchi has advised Ndigbo to show stronger presence in the All progressives Congress, APC, as the 2027 general elections approach.

Nnamchi said that truth is that the south east has infrastructure deficiency because the zone has remained in the political periphery and have been alienated from the core political chessboard where the politics of allocation of resources take place.

He made reference that the late Premier of the Eastern Region, Dr. Michael Okpara is renowned to have performed incredibly well as an administrator but that people don't defer to the political party he belonged but only point at the good works he did.

Nnamchi spoke on Sunday, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church promises in Emene Enugu, during the concluding ceremony of the vacation computer training of over 100 students of the constituency.

He said that even though he won election under the platform of the Labour party he had to defect to the APC to attract more federal government presence in his constituency, which he added has paid off with the approval for establishment of the Federal University of Agriculture in Ako-Nike, Enugu State.

Nnamchi said, "Our former party had issue along the way. If you are not at the table nobody talks for you. Truth is that Igbo are truthful people but we have to join the mainstream. If you are not where resources are being shared, nobody talks for you. It is better to be at the center than at the periphery.

"Tomorrow, what I will be asked is what did I did for the people and not the party I belonged. I moved from Labour Party to the APC and the first thing was attraction of a federal University. We should be able to secure jobs for our people. I thank President Bola Tinubu for assenting the bill for the establishment of the University of Agriculture.

"We have had over 54 bills but this is the reason why I joined the APC. Nobody now remembers the party Okpara (Michael) used to win election but his legacies are what people talk about today. You have to align to the center because it is winner takes all. The FG presence in Kaduna state alone are more that the whole of Southeast combined.

"The Igbo is in number 6th position now because and we can't continue repeating the same thing all around and expect change. We need to move from the sixth position. I have explained these things here so that our people can go and tell others."
