Don’t Upload my name without due process, SKC Ogbonnia chides NDC
He issued the warning amid speculation that he is favored for nomination
Former Presidential aspirant and Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, stakeholder, Dr. SKC Ogbonnia has warned the party’s leadership against submitting his name or any other candidate to the INEC portal without due process.
In a statement, on Monday, Ogbonnia insisted that all names sent to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, must emerge from clear, verified direct primaries or a legal consensus.
He issued the warning amid speculation that he is favored for nomination.
Ogbonnia pointed to Enugu State as an example, stating that it is “a matter of public record that neither a direct primary nor a valid consensus took place in the state.”
Drawing a parallel to the presidential candidate of the NDC, Mr. Peter Obi, he said he has built a reputation as an advocate of electoral integrity and that compromising on the rules is completely out of the question.
He urged the NDC to strictly adhere to the provisions of the newly amended 2026 Electoral Law to avoid self-sabotage.
Ogbonnia warned that uploading names that bypass proper internal party democracy could invalidate the party’s mandate in court.
“Uploading names that bypass proper internal party democracy is as good as working directly for the opposition. If the NDC cuts corners, the courts will readily invalidate their mandate, handing an effortless victory to their rivals before the battle even begins,” Ogbonnia warned.
He described the situation as a ticking legal time bomb and told the party to follow the law, or prepare for total judicial disaster.
